Lighting in the bedroom (17 photos): successful examples of the location of lamps and spotlights

The bedroom is a room not for prying eyes. Guests do not come here, here reigns comfort and tranquility. And just as the interior of the bedroom should have to rest, the lighting in the bedroom should perform certain functions: soothe and relax in the evening, and in the morning - invigorate and awaken.

Bedroom lighting options can be very diverse. If for a small attic bedroom with a low ceiling there is only one ceiling or wall lamp at the head of the bed, then large, spacious bedrooms require a completely different approach to their lighting.

No matter how light or dark the bedroom interior may be, even if your bedroom is completely white, it is desirable that it has large windows. But in order to meet a new day in a good mood, the awakening must be gradual. The location of the window behind the bed or in the side wall in relation to the bed will prevent bright daylight from spoiling the pleasant exit from the night rest.

If the area of the bedroom does not allow you to place the bed away from the window, it is advisable to curtain it at night with dark heavy curtains, and if the bedroom is small, you can install it on the window blinds.

The same applies to the windows in the bedroom, located in the attic. It is better to put the bed so that the windows in the inclined planes of the ceiling are not directly above the bed. Is that you - a lover of rapid awakening and the morning light, directed to the face does not affect you negatively.

Artificial lighting

If you have decided on the interior, do not forget to think about the lighting in the bedroom. Proper evening lighting of your room to sleep in the form of a soft diffused light will make its interior more interesting, and depending on where there will be light sources and what lamps will be selected, the bedroom will look different every time.

Here are examples of different types of lighting and how the design of the bedroom depends on the location of the sources of artificial light.

Ceiling lighting

Placing the main and, as a rule, the only source of light on the ceiling is the standard design of the bedroom lighting of a small city apartment. In most cases, it is a chandelier in the center of a small bedroom, hanging right above the bed.

In your own home, no matter how small the bedroom, you can think of the design of its lighting so that the bedroom will turn from a small and cramped visually into a room with a good area and height.

Installing a small chandelier is not excluded, but it can be placed not in the center or above the bed, but, for example, above the chest of drawers or the dresser.

The ceiling lighting in the bedroom can be complemented by spotlights placed on one of the levels of the two-level ceiling, while the chandelier remains one of the light sources.

Lighting a bedroom without a chandelier is also possible. Moreover, the chandelier fits well into the interior of an exceptionally large bedroom, but by no means small. The volume of a small bedroom is guaranteed to be filled with light of the desired intensity of lamps located on the walls. And, of course, it’s better to make a small bedroom white — it will also visually enlarge it.

Wall lighting

Sconces of different shapes, different colors, the design of which is made in a wide variety of styles - these are the lamps used most often for wall lighting.

The interior of the bedroom very rarely involves wall lighting. Sometimes lamps hung above the bed completely replace the chandelier and other sources of ceiling lighting.

There are also interesting options for bedroom wall lighting when spotlights or night lamps are installed in special niches or false shelves.

Wall lighting with night lamps and sconces will harmoniously fit into the design of the attic bedroom with a low ceiling. A spotlights installed in the ceiling of the bedroom, located in the attic, will compensate for the lack of light from the wall, if there is one. In addition, if you are a lover of space and freedom, then having painted the ceiling of the attic bedroom with white paint, you will also add light to the room and visually increase the height of the bedroom if the ceiling in the attic is made low.

Bedside lighting

Bedside lighting by using:

  • table lamps mounted on bedside tables, dressers, shelves;
  • floor lamps that are placed directly beside the bed, on one or both sides;
  • night lamps or spotlights in a small niche above the bedside tables.

Combined lighting

The bedroom lighting in most cases turns out to be just a combination, as for a comfortable stay in the bedroom, and also not to get up, turn off the overhead light at the moment when sleep is overtaken, a competent specialist will definitely develop a bedroom lighting design taking into account all possible situations.

A chandelier or spotlights on the ceiling, a floor lamp by the dressing table, table lamps by the bed, or night lamps above the bed - this is a complete set of what we see most often in the bedrooms.

But there are creative people with substandard thinking, using unexpected "lights" to illuminate the bedroom. LED tubes and even holiday lights can be used as light sources. The design of a white bedroom is changed beyond recognition by the LED lighting installed in the baguettes of the suspended ceiling or behind a false partition.

LED lighting looks interesting in the bedroom of a young couple, a little girl or a teenage girl, when it seems that this is no longer an ordinary bed in the bedroom with a standard low ceiling, but a boudoir in a high palace hall.

Sometimes such a small detail is enough for the interior of a white, inconspicuous bedroom to become unusual, almost fabulous. In the bedrooms, the walls of which are covered with wallpaper with colored ornaments, this decision will look intrusive. If you want to take advantage of this idea - leave the bedroom white.

Palace chic can be achieved by installing on the ceiling of the bedroom a crystal chandelier and bedside lamps made in the same classic style. The only condition is that the entire interior of the bedroom should also correspond to the classical style, and the bedroom itself should not be small, but of impressive size, and not be located in the attic with a low ceiling. Otherwise it will seem that everything around is pressing on you. What kind of good rest then will be discussed?
